10 Simple Steps
Apply for Education Visa from Abroad
- Apply for the course & make a deposit payment
After receiving the deposit equivalent to the first 3 months’ program fees, enrollment information, and supporting documents, we will issue an acceptance letter within 24-48 hours.
Processing time: 1-2 days
- NS will prepare your MOE application
Please allow us 1 business day to complete and submit your application to the Ministry of Education. You will then receive an email requesting your electronic signature on the application and supporting documents.
Processing time: 1 day
- Wait for the approved Letter of Acceptance (LOA)
The average wait time for the LOA to be returned from the Ministry of Education is 7-14 business days, depending on the number of applications submitted. We can provide an estimate of the wait time when we submit your application.
Processing time: 7-14 days
- Approved LOA and Visa Documentation
Once we have received your approved LOA, we will notify you immediately so that you can proceed with your education visa application. For those applying through the e-visa system, we will send your visa documentation via email, while those applying through the traditional visa system will receive it by post.
- Apply for your education visa
You can apply for an education visa (Non-Immigrant ED) at a Thai embassy or consulate of your choice. The visa application process could take 2-7 business days. Please check with the embassy/consulate for an estimate of how long the visa application process will take.
- Arrange your trip to Thailand
Once all documents are in order, you will be granted an initial 90-day education visa. You must travel to Thailand before the expiration of your visa, and once you arrive in Thailand, you must start your class within 30 days.
- Reporting to school and paying remaining fees upon arrival in Thailand
It is imperative that you report to our school within 7 days of entering Thailand. Additionally, you will be required to pay the remaining balance of your program fees upon your arrival in Thailand.
- Attend classes regularly
During the duration of your visa, it is essential to attend classes regularly and maintain a full-time student status.
- Extend your visa every 90 days
To extend your visa, you will need to go to immigration every 90 days and submit the necessary documents, including proof of attendance and scores to apply for an extension. Our school will remind you and arrange all the necessary visa extension documents for you.
- Enjoy your stay and learn Thai culture

For Enrollment with New Stamford School
- Passport: Please provide a scanned copy of all used pages of your passport, including the personal information page, any previous Thai visa stamp pages, the last entry stamp, visa sticker, and extension stamp (if applicable).FOR GUIDANCE, PLEASE CLICK HERE.
- Passport-sized photographs: Please submit six recent photographs, measuring 4×6 cm, with a plain white background. These will be used as your student photo ID. FOR GUIDANCE, PLEASE CLICK HERE.
- TM6 Form: This form may not be required for those who arrived in Thailand by air after July 1, 2022.

For Visa Application at the Thai Embassy/Consulate of your Choice:
It is crucial for students who plan to apply for a visa to stay informed of the latest requirements. Each embassy and consulate may have different rules and regulations, and while New Stamford School can provide guidance, we cannot guarantee compliance with every embassy or consulate’s specific requirements. It is the responsibility of the student to research and verify the requirements, including office hours and holidays, for the specific embassy or consulate they will be applying to.

- Passport: A valid passport with at least 6 months remaining before expiration and at least one blank page for the visa.
- Visa Application Form: A completed and signed visa application form.
- Passport-sized photographs: Two recent photographs, measuring 4×6 cm, with a plain white background.
- Proof of Enrollment: A letter of acceptance (LOA) from New Stamford School (provided by the school).
- Official letter from the Ministry of Education of Thailand (provided by the school).
- Recommendation letter addressed to the Consulate (provided by the school).
- School License/Curriculum (provided by the school)
- School Director’s ID (provided by the school)
Supporting documents:
Any additional documents required by the specific Thai Embassy/Consulate you are applying to.
- Financial statement: A bank statement or letter of financial support to demonstrate your ability to cover your tuition fees and living expenses while in Thailand.

10 Simple Steps
Apply for Education Visa inside Thailand
- Check your eligibility
Plan to apply to New Stamford at least 45 days before the expiration of your current visa. To determine your eligibility for the program, please consult with our school and provide us with a copy of the relevant pages of your passport, including the personal information page, all previous Thai visa stamp pages, your last entry stamp, visa sticker, and any extension stamp (if applicable).
- Apply for the course & make a deposit payment

You will then need to visit our school in person to take an enrollment photo, sign the visa paperwork, and provide us with your original passport and all required documents. You will be required to pay the remaining balance of your program fees within 7 days.
- NS will apply for your visa conversion
After you have visited our school, we will initiate the process of filing your visa conversion at Chiang Mai Immigration the next day. You will then be required to attend Chiang Mai Immigration in person on the following day in the afternoon to complete the process.
- Visa Conversion & Attendance at Chiang Mai Immigration
To obtain your education visa, it is required that you attend Chiang Mai Immigration in person, accompanied by our staff who will guide you through the process. The visa application process involves taking a photo, which usually takes around 30-45 minutes, after which your passport will be returned to you. Following this, you will be granted a 15-day period of consideration during which the immigration office will review your application and documents to ensure everything is in order for your visa approval.
- Visa Hearing Process & Start attending classes
You will be required to send your passport to our school, and our team will attend your visa hearing on your behalf. If all of your documents are in order and approved, you will be granted a non-immigrant ED visa, allowing you to stay in Thailand for 90 days. You can pick up your passport from the school the following day. You can start attending classes. It is essential to attend classes regularly and maintain a full-time student status.
- Extend your visa every 90 days
To extend your visa, you will need to go to immigration every 90 days. Our school will remind you and arrange all the necessary visa extension documents for you.

After the Letter of Acceptance from the Ministry of Education has been granted, the following additional documents must be provided:
- TM30 registered to a Chiang Mai address. If you are unsure of what a TM30 form is, please click here for more information.
- Rental agreement or permission to stay letter: If you have not already provided proof of your stay in Chiang Mai at the time of your initial application, you must provide a rental agreement or permission to stay letter from your landlord, stating that you will be staying in Chiang Mai for at least 3-4 weeks.
