Immigration Matters Summary: Fees and Fines to Keep in Mind

As an international student in Thailand, there are several immigration matters you need to keep in mind. Some of these include visa application fees, overstaying fines, visa extension fees, late reporting fines, and re-entry permit fees.

Visa Application Fees

The visa application fee for a single-entry visa is 2,000 Baht. It is essential to note that these fees are subject to change, and it’s always advisable to confirm the latest fees before making any payment.

Overstaying Fines

If you overstay your visa in Thailand, you’ll be fined 500 Baht per day, up to a maximum of 20,000 Baht. Additionally, if you overstay for more than 90 days, you’ll be subject to deportation and banned from re-entering Thailand.

Visa Extension Fees

If you wish to extend your visa, you’ll need to pay a visa extension fee of 1,900 Baht. This fee applies to most types of visas and is valid for a single-entry extension of up to 90 days.

Late 90-day Reporting Fines

It is mandatory for foreigners staying in Thailand for more than 90 days to report their presence to the immigration office. Failure to do so may result in a fine of 2,000 Baht. If you get arrested for not reporting your presence, the fine increases to 5,000 Baht.

Late Address Registration Fines

You must re-register your address with the immigration office within 24 hours of moving to a new place of residence. Failure to do so may result in a fine of up to 2,000 Baht.

Re-Entry Permit Fees

If you plan to leave and re-enter Thailand during the validity of your visa, you’ll need to obtain a re-entry permit. The fee for a single re-entry permit is 1,000 Baht, while that of a multiple re-entry permit is 3,800 Baht.

In conclusion, being aware of the fees and fines related to immigration matters in Thailand is crucial for international students. By following the regulations and avoiding any violations, you can ensure a smooth and hassle-free stay in the country.
