🛫 Planning to Visit Thailand?
Here’s What You Need to Know About Tourist Visas 🇹🇭
If you’re planning a trip to Thailand, you’ll need to understand the different types of visas available. This post will cover the main tourist visa schemes including
- Tourist Visa (TR)
- Visa Exemption (ผ.30/P30)
- Visa on Arrival (TR15)
- Visa on Arrival (ผ.ผ.14/VoA14)
- Visa Exemption (ผ.ผ.30/PP30)
- Visa Exemption (ผ.ผ.90/PP90)
- Transit Visa (TS/S/C)
- Special Tourist Visa (STV).
Each of these visa types has its own rules, requirements, and conditions. The Tourist Visa (TR) allows visitors to stay in Thailand for up to 60 days, while the Visa Exemption (P30) permits stays of up to 30 days. Visa on Arrival (VoA15) is available for certain nationalities and allows a stay of up to 30 days, while VoA14 is available for visitors from Myanmar and Cambodia and permits stays of up to 14 days.
Visa Exemption (PP30) allows stays of up to 30 days for visitors from specific countries, and PP90 permits stays of up to 90 days for visitors from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Korea (ROK), and Peru.
The Transit Visa (TS/S/C) is available for those passing through Thailand to reach their destination, participating in sports activities, or crew members of a conveyance.
Lastly, the Special Tourist Visa (STV) is issued to visitors who wish to enter Thailand for tourism purposes and permits stays of up to 90 days.
At our language school, we specialize in education visas (Non-Immigrant ED), which have different rules, prices, conditions, and requirements compared to other types of visas. We can only provide advice on applying for an education visa or converting to one. If you need another type of visa, we recommend speaking with a visa agency for assistance.
For those planning a visit to Thailand for tourism or transit purposes, it’s good to know that the period of stay for visa-on-arrival has been extended from 15 to 30 days, and the period of stay for the visa exemption scheme has been extended from 30 to 45 days. Additionally, bilateral agreements on visa exemption have been extended from 14 and 30 days to 45 days. These changes are in effect from October 1, 2022, to March 31, 2023.
Stay informed and have a great trip!
